HBO has its share of dramas, comedies and fantasies with hit shows such as Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Girls, and True Blood. So what’s next for the cable network? HBO is looking to conquer the science fiction genre with a new show called The Spark.
The project is in development at the moment, and comes from the co-writer of the Tom Cruise film Oblivion and creator of the recently cancelled TV series Last Resort, Karl Gajdusek.
Gajdusek is writing the pilot and will also take on the role of Executive Producer if picked up.
According to Deadline, The Spark is set in a world going through a technological/industrial revolution in the near future. It will follow a female protagonist as she works to discover the origin of a signal sent to Earth from beyond the solar system.
If it gets picked up in the future, do you think it’ll be another hit for HBO?
