Well, well, well…. What do we have here?
Neil Patrick Harris bares his naked body on the newest cover of Rolling Stone magazine and I’m not really complaining.
The now former star of How I Met Your Mother and current Broadway sensation as Hedwig in Hedwig & the Angry Inch (which earned him a Tony nomination!) opened up on a wide range of topics with the magazine, including how coming out has helped his career for the better.
“Once all the cards were on the table, I got more opportunities than ever,” Harris says. “Some actors don’t get hired because you can’t look into their soul and see what they’re like, because they’re kept guarded.”
Harris’ partner, David Burtka, even opened up about Harris. He wondered if Harris, after playing the very masculine Barney Stinson for years, could tackle the effeminate Hedwig?
“I didn’t think he could pull off the femininity of [the role],” Burtka says. “This is such a stretch for him. In his day-to-day, he’s not a very feminine guy.” Harris, also admitted that he has always been aware of how he presented himself, especially in his Doogie years.
“I have always been highly aware of how I was presenting myself,” Harris says. “Which, now that I’m playing overtly feminine and loving it, is kind of a stupid concern.”
