There are a lot of celebrity couples that, as unfortunate as it is, you don’t really see them lasting much longer than the walk down the aisle.
However, Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie were not in the same category. The former teen Disney star, 26, and her NHL hockey player husband,33, of three years announced today that they “have mutually decided to an amicable separation,” and “they remain best friends and will continue to be in each other’s lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son and ask for privacy at this time.”
According to E! Online, a source close to the couple said that the split is “extremely friendly and didn’t stem from any particular incident,” but rather they just drifted apart over time, though they tried going to couple’s therapy to work things out.
This comes as a shock to many people, especially since the two have still been spotted together very recently from a New Year’s Eve gathering to Luca’s first trip to Disneyland at the end of December, giving no indication that they were close to a decision like this.
The couple was married on Aug.14,2010 in Santa Barbara,Calif.
This afternoon, Duff took to Twitter to address the issue herself, saying, “Mike and I are sitting here, we are so appreciative for all of your kindness and well wishes. Not an easy day but we’re getting thru it together.”
It’s good to hear that there are no hard feelings with either of them, but we will be sending a lot of love their way during this time.
