Hip Hip Huzzah: ABC Hints At More OUAT Spin-Offs Despite Low Ratings Of “Wonderland”

ABC is not done with  Once Upon a Time spin-offs! Recently, the creators hinted at the possibility of more ‘spinoff series’ even though Once Upon a Time in Wonderland was ultimately deemed a failure (at least according to ratings). Could this mean there might be a show based around Neverland with Hook, Peter Pan, Baelfire, and Tinker Belle? I sure hope so! That would be a brilliant hour of television.

What Paul Lee, ABC’s chairman, said is a bit cryptic. It seems geared towards OUAT  more than anything. “[Showrunners Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis] are endlessly inventive. They have a glimpse in their eyes of stories they’re going to spin for many years to come on Once, and maybe beyond it,” he told EW.

He went on to say, “It certainly doesn’t rule out their ability or our ability to build on Once. In many ways, Once itself changes every season by bringing on new characters – think of the world of Hook, of Wicked, and now to have teased Frozen.”

The man takes the blame for the failure of Wonderland. The timeslot was a poor choice, as ABC aired the show while OUAT was just starting its 3rd season. “I would have given [Wonderland] a better chance had I done what we’re doing with [upcoming musical comedy] Galavant and put it in the gap,” he mused. “I think we should have tried that one in the gap. I think we would have had a better chance with that.”

So, what are your thoughts? Do you want more spin-offs? Did you like Wonderland? Are you going to tune into Galavant? Sound off below!
