You might have seen in the news recently about a Kickstarter campaign that raised over $60,000 dollars for a guy to make potato salad…sigh…it’s things like this that make me lose faith in humanity! Its times like these we need Hope, so I decided to create a project to help those less fortunate and give them some.

Helping the Homeless of Perth

There are a lot of people living on the streets and I have always felt giving spare change just wasn't enough. What can $2 really buy someone? Items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, tissues, etc, would be considered luxury items when the money they get needs to go towards food. I wanted to do more, so buy buying in bulk and using my ABN to get items at wholesale rates, I created "Hopeful Packs." For $11 ($10.70 to be exact) each pack contains: A toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, 2x packets of tissues, 5x band aids, 5x sealed ziplock bags, a notebook and pens, a rain poncho, a pair of socks, a beanie,5x servings of jam, 2 energy bars, 2x 600ml water bottles, and a loaf of bread. We will be distributing them through a great non-profit company called Manna who offer a hot meal to over 200 per day, 6 nights a week. The "Hopeful Packs" are ready to go and have been launched on Indiegogo. We are trying to raise $2140 to create 200 packs for the homeless living in Perth. Any donation towards a pack is greatly appreciated. You can donate via the Indiegogo page here and watch the pitch video below.
Even if you can't donate, please share and share and share as the more people who see this, the greater chance we have of reaching our goal. I know we tend to get really upset at the thought of Steven Moffat directing a Star Wars movie, or how Brittney Spears sounds when you take away the auto-tune; but people living on the street worry about where they are going to sleep, and if there is going to be a meal today. This project will make a difference to a lot of people so I hope you will consider donating. Keep Up With PopWrapped On The Web!
