Hugh Jackman has done an amazing job playing X-Men's Wolverine. But, now it looks like he plans to put those claws on his mantel and call it a day. While he was promoting his new film Prisoners In San Sebastian, he not only confirmed his role in the film Chappie, but talked about leaving the X-Men franchise for good. Jackman took the time to mention that his next opportunity to be Wolverine would more than likely be his last, after he picked up a lifetime achievement award at the San Sebastian film festival. Jackman has played the clawed mutant from X-Men for well over six films, and said that it may not be likely that he would return to the role after the next upcoming X-Men film. Jackman said "Great parts always outgrow the actors that play them. If you forget that, it's at your own peril. They are working on X-Men now, and it would have been very compelling for me to do it again. I've been doing it for ten years." Hugh told Digital Spy last week that "I know there's an expiry date on this. I'm not 100% sure what it is. I'm also really sure it's not just my decision, in fact more than likely not my decision! We'll see. Jackman just picked up the a Donosita award this past Friday in the Basque city, where he discussed being offered a cameo as Wolverine in a cameo appearance in Spider-Man. "I have people ask me all the time , do you think Spider-Man can beat Wolverine? It's part of the DNA, Marvel wanted me to do a cameo in the first Spider-Man , but I couldn't find my suit. I could have turned up before it was such a big deal. But I don't have that kind of power to make that happen."He said. Jackman is currently promoting his new film Prisoners at the screening in San Sebastian. The film is a new thriller from Denis Villenenue. He said the role was a grueling one and it took a lot out of him. He stated " The job is to pretend as convincingly as you can. A lot of people think that means you have to dive into yourself, but I feel it's diving into the people around you, the other actors and the director. And when I come home, I feel like I've played a game of rugby and have a bath and I am fine. It is cathartic." The former Oscar host was also seen at the Zurich film festival this past weekend, which is where he chose to confirm his role in director Neil Blomkamp's new film Chappie. Jackman also snagged another lifetime achievement award before another screening of Prisoners took place. He told Screen Daily "I am doing a role in Neil's new film, called Chappie, which we shoot in Johannesburg. I'm there for a couple of weeks at the beginning of next year." The film Chappie is about a robot who gets stolen by two gangsters (played by Die Antwood), only to be used by ninja's for moral corrupt reasons.
