Hundreds Set Ablaze at Taiwan Water Park

Hundreds of concertgoers caught ablaze after incident with Holi powder and pyrotechnics during a performance in Taiwan at the Formosa Water Park.

An unfortunate blend of Holi powder and pyrotechnics set hundreds of attendees ablaze at a Taiwan water park this past weekend. The incident happened at the Formosa Water Park. There were over 200 injured: 141 reported injured, 80 seriously injured. Some victims had burns on over 40% of their bodies, being rushed to the local hospitals for treatment.

The accident was captured on camera by someone in the crowd, and a forewarning- it’s terrifying. You can see the crowd being covered in a powder of some sort before the entire floor catches on fire. Investigators are currently investigating what could have caused the fire during the water park’s “Color Day Asia” event.

This link to The Guardian has updated information and a video of the aftermath. A sad day, indeed, for anyone effected. No news on whether the blaze had to do with the actual performance that was happening on stage.

The Formosa Water Park has been closed since the incident while investigators continue to analyze the scene.
