PBS is about to become a whole lot more Vicious! The first season of the British sitcom, featuring Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Derek Jacobi as an ageing and quarrelling gay couple, will premiere in the US next year, reports Deadline.
Comprised of merely six episodes so far, the series first premiered on ITV back in April, opening to over 5 million viewers and finishing with almost 3 million. The show also stars Frances de la Tour, probably best known for her role in Harry Potter as Madame Maxime, and Iwan Rheon, who plays the vicious, fearless, and twisted Ramsay Snow on Game of Thrones.
Aside from now airing in the US, the sitcom will be renewed for a second season on ITV and there will be a Christmas special later this year.
Unfortunately, though, the second season might still be quite far away, since Jacobi already warned that McKellen has a very busy schedule that will make it impossible to start filming before we’re halfway through 2014.
Not very surprising, perhaps, considering his roles in The Hobbit and X-Men.
Either way, Vicious will definitely be returning to ITV on the 24th of December this year, followed by its US premiere somewhere in 2014.
