The cast for the live-action Beauty and the Beast seems to be growing more impressive as time passes by. The latest, exciting addition to this all-star cast is Sir Ian McKellen, who will be providing his voice for the beloved, quirky clock Cogsworth. Cogsworth, in Beauty and the Beast, is most often seen bantering with his candlestick pal Lumiere. When the two aren’t play-arguing, they’re busy trying to keep Beast’s temper at bay. It will be a downright joy seeing McKellen banter with whoever is cast as Lumiere. Is it bad that I’m hoping it's Patrick Stewart? The two are best friends in real life after all. It would be amusing to see Magneto and Xavier come together to voice Cogsworth and Lumiere.
McKellen’s fellow cast members include Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Emma Thompson, Luke Evans, Audrda McDonald, Josh Gad and Keven Kline. Beauty and the Beast follows the latest trend of Disney revivals right along the heels of Cinderella and Mulan, with Pinocchio also joining the ranks. The film is being directed by Bill Cordon, who just worked with McKellen for the upcoming Sherlock Holmes film titled Mr. Holmes.
Beauty and the Beast is set to make its enchanting debut March 17, 2017.
