It’s a momentous day for Indiana. Mark June 25, 2014 on the calendars as it’s the day Indiana’s Constitutional Ban of Same-Sex Marriage was overthrown! U.S. District Judge Richard Young marked the ban unconstitutional. Starting today, married same-sex couples will be recognized. Couples are also allowed to wed.

In several Indiana counties, couples went to the court house to tie the knot. In Marion County, the clerk’s office stayed open until 8 PM to grant the marriage licenses. Reportedly, the line out of the building was nearly out the door! “As of 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, 219 marriage licenses had been processed by the clerk’s office. The office performed 150 wedding ceremonies after the ruling Wednesday” WTHR News reported.

There has been a heated debate on Facebook for and against this new change.  Charity Rosandich wrote, “i think it is wonderful that the office is staying open late! what a momentous occasion for those that have been waiting for this for a while.” On the other side, Jarron Murry remarked, “ I must say one thing and one thing only God created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve or Eve and Evelyn”.

However, this is not over. It’s an uphill battle. There are already appeals against the rulings. How will this story unfold and what will the outcome be? We can only wait and see!
