It’s a long way to Tipperary, it’s a long way to go... but that’s not stopping some Irish people, who are traveling by planes, trains and automobiles to make it back to all corners of the Emerald Isle to vote for the Marriage Equality Referendum.

Irish people from all over the globe have been using #HometoVote (one of the top worldwide trends on twitter on 22nd May), and telling the tales of how they are getting home and why it matters.

For those who are not in the know, Ireland is holding a referendum to amend its constitution to make marriage gender neutral and allow same-sex couples to marry.

The inspiring hashtag shows how much people care, and is really a testament to the fact that people are inherently good and will fight for what is right.

People are traveling from all over the globe, from Ethiopia and Nairobi to as far as Australia to make it back for the Referendum. In fact, one brave ex-patriot in Australia has emptied his bank account to make the trip home.

The #HometoVote trend on twitter is really inspiring, and if you believe in love, I would highly recommend you check it out.

Even Hozier headed home to vote. What a guy.

Everyone from Ian McKellen, to Jim Carrey, Stephen Fry to George Takei have been throwing their two cents in and encouraging people to Vote yes.

Because as The Beatles once said “All you need is love.”

Thoughts Popwrappers? Have you checked out the #HometoVote trend? Are you going home to vote yourself? Let us know.
