Heartbreak has always inspired songwriters to pen their biggest hits. Just ask Adele or Taylor Swift who have sold millions of records with their break-ups. It seems that Taylor Swift’s BFF and collaborator Ed Sheeran may be following in her footsteps. Sheeran, who is well known for writing sweet-love songs, may be taking aim at a former flame with his upcoming single  "Don’t." The rumors have been flying that the target is Ellie Goulding, whom he dated for a short while; something which he confirmed on Click 98.9, but Goulding would later deny on Twitter.  And to add to what is already a juicy story, Goulding was allegedly cheating on Sheeran with none other than One Direction member Niall Horan.  Now everyone knows how close Ed is to One Direction, he even penned three songs for them, including no. 1 hit "Little Things;"  so if the rumors are true, this is one bad burn for him. “The story in "Don't" is 100 percent true. I could have gotten nastier - there was more shit that I didn't put in. I was seeing someone for a bit of time, and then they ended up physically involved with one of my friends in the same hotel that we were staying in, while I was downstairs. And I feel like: Treat people how you want to be treated," Ed told Billboard about his new song. And to give you an idea of the vitriol of the song here are a few snippets: “I never saw him as a threat, ’til you disappeared with him to have sex,” now isn’t that direct?  And “If I show courtesy and respect to someone, I expect to receive it. When we’re in the same hotel, and I’m downstairs at my party and you’re upstairs doing that, that’s disrespectful.”

Niall Horan and Ellie Goulding have yet to release their own statements but Horan did tweet out something that could be an answer: Break-up songs are the best! So what do you think? Is the alleged love affair true? Did Niall and Ellie cheat on Ed?
