The Sims 4 domain has now been taken ‘thesims4.com’ has been registered by EA, prompting talk of an announcement regarding the next instalment of the simulation game to be made.
NeoGAF has reported that a big announcement is to be made 6th May, concerning the series. Given the domain name and the ‘big announcement’ it seems likely that The Sims 4 will officially be unveiled. It’s been 4 years since The Sims 3, yet due to the extensive amount of expansion packs it has to offer, the gaming franchise is still going strong, regularly charting high.
This year EA will continue to push The Sims 3 and the many expansion packs to be released later this year. If it is an announcement about The Sims 4, it will be just that, the game itself probably won’t be released until next year; however we’ll have to see what EA say for the official word.
Many have speculated that this new Sims may, like the newest Sims City game, require an ‘always online’ connection. This could mean meeting up with friends during gameplay.
