Gladiators in suits, it's our time again. Welcome to Scandal's season three! We've decided to add this fantastic show to our list of recaps because how can we not be watching it? Shonda Rhimes has changed the game once again, and we are happily along for the ride. If you are not a Gladiator in a suit yet, the show is available on Netflix. I highly recommend you binge watch it. You won't regret it. As for my fellow Gladiators, let get down to it! As always, spoilers lie ahead. If you have yet to see tonight's episode, keep it moving! We picked off where we left off last season, finding out that Olivia's father was the bad ass behind the Secret Ops and the one who placed the hit on her (Can we say serious Daddy issues?). Papa Pope unleashes all kinds of not so kind things at Olivia in their short drive to the airport. Papa Pope wants to fix Olivia by making her disappear, telling her basically she's going to, come hell or high water and that "he's Hell and High Water." Olivia gets on the plane, not before saying goodbye to Cyrus. The two fight over her leaving, with Cyrus saying that he's " her monster," and is going to fight for her (Reasons why I love Jeff Perry and Cyrus: this scene). Olivia gets off the plane, defying her father, and heads back to Olivia Pope and Associates, where everyone is panicking. Olivia pops in and tells them that it's being handled. They don't buy it and decide to handle it themselves. Olivia then tries to get back their clients, who are dropping like flies (Career death imminent). Cyrus and the First Lady try to track the source of the leak, finding that a Secret Service Agent has loose lips. Cyrus is trying to do damage control but then a video of the President shows up with him leaving her apartment. He flips his tactics and decides to start a Kill Folder on Olivia. He and his aides dig up all kinds of dirt on Olivia, ready to crush her (Cyrus, our modern day Iago). David comes by to help Olivia but she turns him away. Her dad also shows up but she rejects him as well. Olivia has another trick up her sleeve. She calls in an order. The next thing you know, Olivia is meeting up with the President and First Lady in a secret bunker. The three of them try to figure out how to fix this problem. They agree on giving a partial truth on the affair, with Mellie giving the two painful details on what she knows about their whole affair. Olivia then breaks down in the bunker, and lets Fitz reluctantly comfort her. Mellie, on the other hand, has an agenda. She and Cyrus apparently don't want that to happen. They have to come up with a plan B that involves using Olivia's team. On the day of the news conference, instead of confirming Olivia as the mistress, surprise, surprise, they pin it all on Cyrus' aide, Janine (poor girl)! Fitz hits the roof about it. He was willing to be honest while Mellie lets the proverbial cat out of the bag by letting him know that she knows who leaked Olivia's name to the press. HE DID. Cue the flashback of him having a meeting with his Secret Service team and setting it all in motion, Mellie lets him know what she thinks of him. She lets him have it, guns blazing (Mellie For The Win!). Fitz doesn't hesitate though and fires back that he did it to free Olivia from Mellie's rage and declares war against her, saying that he feels nothing for her. All the pretense is gone. Yikes! It's so on! Olivia, on the other hand, is livid and lashes out at her team on what they did, with Harrison saying that she's off the hook now. Olivia takes a moment to digest it all and keeps it moving, announcing they have another client, Janine. Back at Chez Cyrus, the Iago-esque Chief of Staff comes home to find his husband and child incapacitated  by his hired assassin. No worries though, Charlie's not there to kill Cy, just to take him to his Fearless Leader, Papa Pope. Papa Pope apparently wants to show Cy some things about Fitz and Jake, which leaves Cyrus saying "Oh My God", as the episode ends with him opening a file on their mission together. So there you have it, Gladiators in Suits! Scandal season three is off to a crazy start! Papa Pope is not one we should mess with and looks like we'll be seeing a lot more of him as the season progresses. Hope you all ready because they don't mess around on this show! Quotes of the night: "I'm Hell and High Water." - Papa Pope "I'm Your Monster." - Cyrus "Are we Gladiators or are we Bitches?"- Harrison to the team Until next time, keep those suits fly, Gladiators. Considered yourselves HANDLED until next week!
