Jennifer Lopez announced on September 3rd that, “she was officially returning to American Idol for its 13th season.” It all started with J. Lo’s boyfriend Casper, where rumors swarmed about the 44-year-old entertainer’s AI comeback for weeks, but then Fox network released an official statement regarding the pop superstar and her new co-judges, Harry Connick Jr., Keith Urban and Randy Jackson, who has taken the role of in-house mentor. “American Idol has always been about discovering the next singing superstar, and next season our judging panel will deliver a most impressive combination of talent, wisdom, and personality to do just that,” said Kevin Reilly, Fox Entertainment Chairman. “Jennifer Lopez, the triple-threat global superstar who loves Idol and whom Idol fans love; Harry Connick, Jr., a bona fide musical genius and fantastic Idol mentor whose honesty and expertise can help turn these hopefuls into stars; Keith Urban, a multi-Grammy-winning artist who was such a positive force on the show last season.” But why did J. Lo decide to come back? "It was going to be hard to fit it in. But, to be really honest, I just love the show and I love working with the singers." Lopez revealed her statement on an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show which aired yesterday (October 3rd). She continued stating that, "It was actually a difficult decision because I had a lot of stuff going on." With the other two judges besides her, gesturing towards Keith and Harry, stating  "And, this is working really great and we're having a great time - at the end of the day, everything that's meant to be happens." Auditions for American Idol are currently underway, with the thirteenth season of the hit show set to air in the US in January 2014.
