Duets with Prince and Erykah Badu? Check. A song with Miguel featuring clever use of Pixies’ classic ’‘Where is My Mind’? Check. Could Janelle Monae’s second album, The Electric Lady, be on track to be an album of the year? Certainly on paper it looks that way. It’s starting to look that way!
The Electric Lady, to be released on 10th September, is a follow up to the singer’s successful first album The ArchAndroid. Monae shared the date with her fans today via Instagram, where the announcement was met with great excitement. The short clip, showing only Monae’s yellow-tipped hands writing on lined paper, makes use of the popular photo sharing site’s new video feature.
The full track listing for The Electric Lady has not yet been unveiled, but with prospective song titles such as Dorothy Dandridge Eyes and Dance Apocalyptic, as well as the lead single “Q.U.E.E.N” (which features Erykah Badu), it’s sounding like an exciting affair.
Good thing September’s not too far away!
