Supernatural star Jensen Ackles is no stranger to “saving people” on screen as part of the “family business,” but usually that means staking vampires, exorcising demons, or shooting ghosts with salt bullets. In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, which has dumped a record breaking four feet of rain on his home state of Texas, Ackles is turning his attention to more natural threats, teaming up with his co-stars to raise money for hurricane relief. Ackles, currently filming in Vancouver, lives in Austin with his wife and children, and has family and friends in Da...
Over the course of its 12 season run, the "nearly invincible" CW network series Supernatural has had its fair share of odd and eccentric episodes. From the season 6 episode "The French Mistake" to season 3's "Mystery Spot," show creator Eric Kripke and co. have never been afraid to experiment with the popular series' concept. Sam and Dean Winchester are constantly dealing with other worldy entities after all, so it doesn't seem so crazy that they sometimes end up in some strange situations. ...
Are you ready for "Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell?" Ahhh, nature. Where the stars shine bright, the birds sing clear, and the hellhounds are hot on your trail -- at least the trail of the couple in the opening scene of this week’s Supernatural who, while camping, are attacked. The boyfriend is killed, and the woman escapes after getting a lucky swing at the hound with an axe. At the bunker, Sam and Dean have just returned from what appears to have been a messy case that they obviously won, thanks to the barbed wire bat that Dean mentions John Winchester would have loved. I’m going to give you Walking Dead fans a moment to let that one sink in. Okay, we...
Are we ready for "The Raid?" Last week, we left off with Sam and Dean hesitantly ready to hear Mary out about her working with the British Men of Letters. This week, she is doing her best to explain to the boys that, through the British Men of Letters, she is actually learning a “better way of hunting” that could eventually rid the world of monsters, which is the one thing she wants most for her boys. While Sam is hearing her out, Dean is having none of it. He, of course, feels she’s choosing the British Men of Letters and the “better way of hunting“ over them. “You didn’t need just space. You needed spa...
Are we ready for "Family Feud?" This week’s episode kicks off six months ago with a woman being murdered in Andover, Mass., as in 80s style horror film murdered. Back in present day, Sam and Dean are still trying to locate Kelly, Lucifer’s baby mama. In the meantime, Sam comes across a case in Iowa, where a teacher was brutally murdered (sounds familiar) in a Des Moines museum. Elsewhere, Mary continues to secretly work for the British Men of Letters and things are getting a bit awkward with Ketch. Down in hell, Crowley explains all to Lucifer, who ended up not back in the cage, but back into his old vessel, and at Crowley’s mercy. As it turns out, the case in Des Moines leads t...
Let me start by saying it’s episodes like this one, "Stuck in the Middle (With You)", that demonstrate why Supernatural is knee-deep in its 12th season with no signs of slowing down. (shout out to the man behind the scenes of tonight's episode, Richard Speight, Jr!) But, with that said, the format of this episode is a little tricky to recap, kind of Quentin Tarantino-esque, if you will. So, though the scene kicks off while the team and a random guy are eating breakfast in a diner ... we’re going to step back and do this recap in chronological order. We start out tonight’s episode discovering Mary has been working for the British Men of Letters, and so far, so good ... u...
Are we ready for "Regarding Dean"? This week’s episode kicks off with Dean chasing a guy through the forest. It appears that it’s just another day for the Winchesters, but, before Dean can catch the guy, he stops and casts a spell on Dean. He wakes up the next morning with no memory of the night before. Sam and Dean meet up for breakfast, and Dean doesn’t quite seem like himself. They assume it’s simply the effects of an epic night and a wicked hangover. Dean’s forgetfulness gets worse and worse, and he starts forgetting details about the case they’re working on and how to drive. Eventually, it's to the point where he can’t even remember his own name, and Sam realizes it must be ...
Sometimes, even for those of us who are the biggest Supernatural fans, it’s hard to imagine that, halfway through Season 12, there are still new stories to be told. But somehow, the writers continue to do it. And do it well. In "Lily Sunder Has Some Regrets," we get a little of back story that we hadn’t heard before: Castiel’s. "Lily Sunder Has Regrets" Recap: This week’s episode kicks off in an arcade where we meet an angel named Benjamin (in a vessel that is a woman). Benjamin runs into Lily Sunder, a woman who is kind of badass, eye patch and all, and also happens to be immune to angel powers, and she's out to get Benjamin. Benjamin uses angel radio to ...
We’re BACK from break! Are we ready for "First Blood"? Cas is at the hotel where we left off and calls Mary (who is back in Lawrence) and tells her she needs to meet him at bunker. Meanwhile, the boys have been arrested for trying to kill the President, who was Lucifer at the time (insert joke about art imitating life here). As they’re being transported, the Secret Service is giving one another the history of Sam and Dean Winchester. The main agent steps into the room and begins trying to toy with the boys by threatening to leave them alone in the dark for a very very long time. In a random hotel, Mitch, the British Man of Letters, is writing an update for his Bri...
We are now less then a week away from the Season 12 return of The CW's smash hit Supernatural following its mid-season hiatus. Since 2005, perhaps no show on standard cable has seen such an overwhelming dedication by its fan base. In honor of the show's Season 12 second-half premiere, we're ranking the absolute best five episodes of the popular program's twelve season run. Honorable Mention – "Faith" - Season 1 ...
Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins joined Richard Speight Jr. and Rob Benedict in the season finale of their hit comedy series, Kings Of Con, which streams on Comic Con HQ. The scripted comedy show is based on the actors' real life experiences at massive fan conventions around the globe. The season finale is now LIVE on Comic Con HQ for fans, but we've got a first-look at two scenes from today's episode. In the first clip, Rich & Rob get to meet Jade (Jared Padelecki) and Justin (Jensen Ackles), who don't remember that they've appeared on the show. They're able ...
Supernatural's Jensen Ackles and his wife Danneel Harris recently welcomed their twins, Zeppelin Bram and Arrow Rhodes to the family. The day after their birth, he posted a "Thing 1 and Thing 2" photo a la Dr. Seuss to announce the great news. Now, as a father of three, Ackles has also joked that the twins officially put him ahead of costar Jared Padalecki, who has two sons. Padalecki will "catch up" soon though, as he and his wife are expecting their third child this March. Earlier today, Ackles introduced the twins to his Instagram followers. He posted a photo of the full Ackles clan, including older daughter, JJ. Check out the post below: ...
In the mid-season finale of Supernaural, "LOTUS," Sam, Dean, Cas and Crowley (the Scooby gang) continue their search for Lucifer. As it seems, Lucifer is getting a little more particular about his vessels, narrowing it down to people of fame or power such as CEOs and archbishops (leaving a gruesome trail in his wake). Meanwhile, Lucifer is making himself at home using the The President of the United States (POTUS = LOTUS) as a vessel. He had somehow suckered the President into saying “yes” in return for guidance and help. Yeah, because that’s going to work… Though the White House staff noticed some oddities in his behavior, especially his awkward morning prayer, they p...
Who’s ready for some Rick Springfield action? In this week's episode of Supernatural, "Rock Never Dies," we're on a mission to find Lucifer, who's back on stage as a rock and roll celebrity. "Rock Never Dies" We kick off the episode with some low level Satan worshippers trying to summon the devil in their basement. Lo & behold!, thanks to a relic they purchased online and used in the summoning spell, it works! Lucifer, in his trashed Vince Vicente vessel. If you recall, Rowena had cast a spell to speed up the deterioration process and tossed him into the ocean, leaving him not looking so good. But, thanks to the young satanists relic, he was able to gi...
Well, we have reached what may well prove to be the conclusion of the Gilmore world. What do you think the fall will hold for our girls? Fall Lorelai is in a cheap motel trying to figure out how to fit all her hiking equipment into her trail pack. I guess she really is going to do Wild. She phones Luke and leaves a voicemail explaining that she got there safely and has been on her own for 12 hours and is already nuts. Is food important on a hiking trip? She struggles with the pack over and over, at some points giving up and watching television and falling asleep on the floor. She finally steps out the door to see a dozen other 30-50 year old women w...
Last week, we had a whirlwind adventure involving Hitler ... I guess that's Supernatural for you! Recap: "Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox" The week's episode, "Celebrating The Life Of Asa Fox", kicks off in a flashback where a younger Mary saves a young boy named Asa Fox (meaning Mary was still hunting after she and John got married and had Dean). She reveals to the boy the truth about monsters and that she’s a hunter. We slip in a montage where we see the boy training to be a Hunter over the years, even writing Mary. Via the montage, we see he's good hunter who covers a ...
Truth? After the events of this week, I really wasn’t sure there was a way to make an episode about Hitler work. But, somehow, the writers for Supernatural made it work. Recap: "The One You've Been Waiting For" We kick off the episode in an antique shop where a man and woman are haggling over the price of an antique pocket watch. When they reach an impasse, both of them spontaneously combust. Back at bunker, Sam is concerned over Dean after he turns down pie. (WHAT?!) But, before they can take a deep dive into Dean's inability to eat pie, Dean shows Sam a news story about the spontaneously combusting couple and suggest it’s a case. And off they go....
Sam and Dean Winchester have been fighting demons for years. After all, it is the family business. But do you ever find yourself wishing you were a hunter? With Halloween celebrations underway and monsters out and about, how would you fare if the monsters in Supernatural were real? Would you survive? Or end up being a meat suit? We’ll assume you don’t have the colt. Before you start taking cases, check and see if you know how to kill monsters you may encounter. Test out your hunting knowledge below! "The Foundry" Recap So this week’s episode, "The Foundry" kicks off with a young couple discovering the sound of a crying baby coming from inside an abandoned house at night. They go in and discover the crying baby is a disfigured scary doll beneath a flickering light, and, before they can run away, the door closes on them. Yea, so that will keep me up for the next few nights. Thanks, Supernatural. Cut to the bunker where Mary is sleepless and reading John’s journal. When Cas walks in, she asks him when he finally started fitting in here on earth. He answers that he never did but that she does. Mary attempts to sleep and, instead, cuts her hair. As you do...
"Mamma Mia," Episode Two of the season, starts back off in the torture basement where Toni is questioning Sam in between making out. Well, not actually “making out.” Toni is actually using another potion to cause Sam to hallucinate a bedroom scene. In reality, Toni is cutting Sam up, as she tries to get him to drop the names of hunters as well as passcodes to the databases in the bunker. And, while trying to get Sam to drop some names, she drops one herself: Ruby! Toni seems stuck on that whole drinking-demon-blood-and-sleeping-with-demons thing Sam was into ... But, before we can get in too deep, Toni gets a call (from Mick) that her partner/friend is dead. And it sounds as if Toni also ...
FINALLY Season 12 is here! Is it just me or was this the longest hellatus EVER? Let's jump right in, shall we? Season 12 kicks off right where we left off: the middle of the night reunion by our very own Mary Winchester and Dean (I dare you not to get a little weepy-eyed), watching Dean try to explain and Mary realize she’s been gone from her boys for 33 years. Her last memory was being burned when Sam was just a baby. (If you need a quick flashback, go and watch Season 1, Episode 1, Scene 1.) After catching up Mary on the abridged version of the last 11 seasons, including John’s death, they decide to head home where Dean promises to tell her the rest. Meanwhile, in th...
Okay kids, we are in the home stretch of the Supernatural Hellatus, but we still have a little ways to go. It's four weeks to be exact, but, hey, who’s counting? Lucky for us, The CW has released a little something -- including Rick Springfield -- to help tide us over until October 13th when the premiere finally arrives: the first official Season 12 trailer! For those of you who need a quick refresher before diving into the Season 12 sneak peek highlights, here are some important things to remember: Season 11 ended with the return of Mary Winchester and the kidnapping of Sam by the Rogue British Chapter of the Men of Letters (how we'll be referring to them until we get ...
San Diego Comic-Con came and went like a fandom tornado, but not before we sat down with the cast and executive producers of The CW's Supernatural, which is going into its 12th season this fall. Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, Ruth Connell, Mark Sheppard, Samantha Smith, Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb shared what... or who they're most excited to see this season on the show. Supernatural Season 12 Spoilers: 1) The theme of season 12 is "back to basics," and we couldn't be more excited. Stories and themes will be rooted in family relationships, and it's for a good reason because... 2) MARY WINCHESTER is alive and well. She's 28 and ...
On March 11, CW announced that they would be renewing "Supernatural" for its 12th season, making it CW's longest-running show. With its lovable dream team of Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, Supernatural is a favorite show among viewers. Though the show is showing no signs of ending anytime soon, Ackles and Padalecki are still wondering how the show will end, and more importantly, how they will die. Or, even wondering if Dean and Sam will live. "If you'd asked me Season 1, I would've thought that it would've been the apocalypse," Ackles told Entertainm...
