Thank you, Soulja Boy!
For if you had not given us “We Made It” a few month’s ago, we might not be stanning for Jay Electronica (once again) and giggling at “Mrs. Drizzy.”
But alas, you did, and here the rap world is: on fire as Jay Electronica teamed up with Roc Nation mentor Jay Z and casually dropped their “We Made It Freestyle.”
This is certified heat. The Jays (if you will) are both in top form here. Hov peaks with his wordplay and metaphors, dropping a Lupita Nyong’o reference and most notably a not-so-subtle shot at Drake for recent remarks he made in his February Rolling Stone feature: “It’s like Hov can’t drop bars these days without at least four art references” Drake said. “… the whole rap/art world thing is getting kind of corny.”
Hov was not impressed:
“Sorry Mrs. Drizzy for so much art talk/ Silly me, rapping about sh*t that I really bought/ While these rappers rap about guns, they ain’t shot/ and a bunch of other silly sh*t they ain’t got.”
But Hov isn’t the only one bringing the nasty here.
Electronica comes with arguably the better verse, rapping on everything from his career naysayers and the founder of the Nation of Islam to Obamacare.
Not for nothing, this all comes in-between an immortal Eastbound and Down sample.
Yea, happy Sunday indeed.
