She’ll play the female lead, a trapeze artist.

According to Variety, the cast also includes Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy.

Radcliffe will play Igor, who is the assistant for Victor Von Frankenstein (played by McAvoy).

Igor rescues Findlay’s character from an accident and begins to develop a close relationship with her.

The Harry Potter star has praised the film’s screenplay, written by Max Landis, calling it the best script he’s read since finishing J.K. Rowling’s popular fantasy series.

In an interview with Shock Till You Drop, Landis said, “I began to pick apart our knowledge of ‘Frankenstein’ and discovered that the public’s idea of this myth comes from a million different places…I became committed to recontextualizing it all so it all worked in one story…man it’s cool. It’s the best thing I’ve written.”

The story will be told from Igor’s point of view, which is an unusual decision for some, since he doesn’t appear in Shelley’s original novel at all.

Scottish director Paul McGuigan will lead the project, which hasn’t yet been given a title.

Findlay is best known for her role as Lady Sybil Crawley in the TV series Downton Abbey. Her character died on the show last year, ending her time with the cast.

Her next film is Akiva Goldsman’s fantasy Winter’s Tale, where she stars alongside well-known actors like Will Smith, Matt Bomer, Colin Farrell, Jennifer Connelly, and Russell Crowe.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it will be the English actress’ debut in American film. It is set for release on Valentine’s Day next year.

She also recently wrapped Lullaby with Amy Adams and Garrett Hedlund.

Frankenstein’s latest adaptation hits the big screens in fall 2014.
