Comedian Jimmy Fallon is gearing up for his debut as host of The Tonight Show
, and he’s battling some butterflies.
It all really started to set in when he saw the promo featuring the hosts that had take the stage before him.
“When they showed me that … you see all the other hosts that come before and that’s when it kind of kicked in. Like, this is real. Those guys are legends, just to be on the list it doesn’t make any sense to me … I get goose bumps … it’s getting so real now that it’s actually happening,” Fallon told Ryan Seacrest
It’s the day of his premiere, and he still wasn’t entirely sure what his opening monologue would be this morning.
”I think I’m going to look at it as if it wasn’t me. I don’t know [exactly yet] but it’s a moment in history not only the fact that there’s a new host … but also that it’s broadcast from New York City for first time in over 40 years … it’s like a TV event, so I have to make sure everyone enjoys it as much as they can,” he explained.
The Tonight Show
will be airing, with Fallon at the helm, for the first time in New York since it moved to Burbank, California with former host Johnny Carson in 1972.
Forty-two years later, and Fallon is facing a star-studded lineup during his first week.
Will Smith and U2 are tonight's guests, followed by First Lady Michelle Obama, Will Ferrell and Justin Timberlake welcoming Fallon later on in the week.
In case just their names aren’t enough to get your attention, there may be also be a surprise in store!
“We might do a fun special thing with the first lady and Will Ferrell,” Fallon revealed.
We can’t wait to see what they’ve got up their sleeves.
