The Dawg could be coming back to Idol!
Multiple sources around the World Wide Web including Deadline, Just Jared and Zap2It are reporting that American Idol’s original judge Randy Jackson might back on the show as the new in-house mentor.
But this announcement comes as Interscope chairman and former in-house mentor Jimmy Iovine exits the show after three seasons. Iovine, who guided Scotty McCreery, Phillip Phillips and Candice Glover to victory and made Haley Reinhart and Jessica Sanchez household names, brought a new point of view that often clashed with the judges.
Besides turning Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood and Adam Lambert into global powerhouses, Jackson has worked with legendary recording artists such as Aretha Franklin, Journey, former Idol judge Mariah Carey and the late Whitney Houston.
Right now, the full American Idol: Season 13 judges’ line-up has not been announced. The only confirmed judge is Keith Urban. Meanwhile, the Internet has been buzzing that previous judge Jennifer Lopez will be making her return to the panel and that mega producer Dr. Luke (Britney Spears, Katy Perry and will.i.am) is deep in talks for the final spot on the judges’ panel.
