I’m not even sorry about the puns – this single’s a winner.
Jocelyn Alice debuted her music video for “Jackpot” recently. The singer/songwriter portrays a badass con artist working an underground gambling scene with her crew. I love that the theme is so cool, almost timeless – the plot could easily be happening in the present day or a few decades ago.
It’s a pop song with an intricate, upbeat rhythm, working perfectly with her slightly breathy, melodious vocals (and a refreshing bit of soul). The latter is the highlight here – the Canadian native’s voice shines in this song, and her sassy, confident scenes in the video are a great introduction to her personality for listeners who weren’t familiar with her before.
