Maybe he just didn’t want to upstage the President?

Every year the White House hosts the Correspondents’ Dinner for the members of the media who cover the White House, along with Hollywood’s best and brightest. Each year a top-rated comedian takes the stage as the “host” (comic headliner) of the evening and they usually take jabs at everyone and anything pop culture in America. Usually it’s tastefully done, but this year was a different story.

McHale, known for his role in NBC’s Community and host of The Soup, has a very distinct sense of humour so everyone should have known what to expect, “satirical, judgmental scorn.” There were no ‘soft balls’ as they say, with many of the jokes invoking audible groans from the audience. McHale even repeated the phrase, “Sorry that was low,” over and over again. It’s okay Joel, we are WELL AWARE.

One of the ‘gems’ from his performance? “[y]ou knew the Kardashians were Republican “because they’re always trying to screw black people.”

McHale also took aim at Chelsea Clinton’s pregnancy and also tried to put Vladimir Putin and Bruce Jenner into the same joke, linking them with their love of plastic surgery. Other targets of McHale’s barrage of low blows? Rob Ford, Donald Trump, Chris Christie and everyone running for President in 2016.

Take a look at the whole train wreck below, if you can stomach it.

And then why not check out the President’s speech too!
