Joel Rush is currently a series regular on the Tyler Perry show on the OWN network If Loving You is Wrong. The show is on the mid season break, and eight more episodes of Season 2 will begin airing later this year.
Rush, born in 1982, in Tampa, Florida, USA, is an American model turned actor. Rush is largely known as the runner up of ABC’s reality series, True Beauty, a competition between models with a twist. He was proclaimed runner-up on the show. These days he is on a much bigger show, with the title of series regular.
We asked Joel for some of his best memories filming on the set:
We are all thrilled about season 2 of If Loving You is Wrong. “Once we heard we set the network record for any season 2 premiere at three million viewers, it really hit me just how BIG of a blessing this show has not only been to me, but to all of my cast mates,” Rush said. “We are all truly living our dreams and getting to enjoy the ride together.”
While he has a lot of great memories of working on set, Rush said one stands out more than the others. “My best memory so far is watching my french bulldog, Ted, have three guest appearances so far this season playing the neighbor’s dog. No one gets to see behind the scenes at the studio, but Ted is truly like the Tyler Perry Studios mascot, and the fact that Tyler allowed him to be on screen in numerous episodes is really special to me, as his Dad!” Good news for Joel and Ted, with over 3 million viewers tuning in to watch the season 2 premiere, seasons 3 and 4 got the green light. They are back in studio next month to start filming. No word yet if little Ted will get a special love interest.
Rush was adopted by Ellen DeGeneres on her show, Ellen, and proudly wore the Ellen underwear for her and the ever-so-eager audience.
He also was featured in a 2013 Doritos commercial last year with Emmy winnerLeslie Jordan and fellow model Nick Ayler. It was pretty BOLD, so you can see for yourself HERE.
Rush has also been a successful model and traveled the world as someone in very high demand on the male model scene. Sometimes in the world of modeling its hard to make the transition to acting. Not for Rush. He loves being on the see-saw that takes him from one to the other. What a rush.
Prior to modeling and acting, Rush worked in software sales. He currently runs a successful business that features 3D printing.
As if he is not doing enough, you can also look for Joel Rush later this year in a feature film called The Night Before starring Colin Egglesfield.
