John Duff Unveils His “High Heels” Music Video

It is a monstrous but approachable journey into Duff’s wild imagination…

The latest single from John Duff titled “High Heels” is a musical jamboree. Featuring lush orchestrations and breathtaking vocals by Duff and Tony Award-winning Broadway icon Lillias White, in his own words, Duff says that the track: “…is my most intricate and ambitious piece yet” and today, PopWrapped are delighted to premiere its video.

“High Heels” is the first single from his debut EP, ‘Homo•Sapien’, a collection of songs about everything Duff was told he shouldn’t do in life. Asked why he chose to write a collection based around this idea, he quips: “Because what are life’s rules but imagined ideas that we humans agree upon?”

The song was written two years ago, in London. Duff was travelling on the tube at 9am, going to a writing session, when a young woman sashaying down the platform in stilettos caught his eye. He recalls of that moment: “She was clearly still going from the night before.  She was shameless, brazen – I loved her.”

Its video was directed by both Duff and Shawn Adeli. It is a monstrous but approachable journey into Duff’s wild imagination with some personal nods throughout including the khaki cargo shorts Duff wears, about which he comments: “That look was my self-imposed uniform from preschool until my senior year of high school.”

Asked about the EP the track features on, he adds: “This is real music; played by real musicians. I’ve learned so much about myself from working with so many pros. The main thing being: I’m a real musician myself.”

“High Heels” is available on Apple Music, Spotify, and all digital platforms, along with the Homo•Sapien EP.  Through John Duff’s partnership with Vydia’s Royalty Center, proceeds from the Homo•Sapien EP will benefit The Future Perfect Project.
