If you’re a fan of the novel The Fault in our Stars, then I’m sure you’re excited about the movie adaptation that’s currently in production. TFIOS is currently filming in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the author of the book, John Green, has been on set and posting behind the scenes videos and photos.
In the latest video, Green asks the stars of the movie a question that apparently many people keep asking him: have the stars actually read the book?
The answer: they have! Ansel Elgort, who will be playing Augustus Waters, said that he loved the book, and Shailene Woodley, who will be playing Hazel Grace, went as far as to say it was one of her top two favorite books of all time.
He also talks about how a film set is generally just a “construction site” and jokes that the “most glamorous facet of the moviemaking process” is actually the port-a-potties!
“I mean I’ve lived in apartments smaller than this porta potty. I mean it has both a toilet and a urinal. It also smells great in here by the way, like angels and stardust. I’m serious; this is a fancy porta potty!”
Green then goes on to mention one of his favorite things about the movie adaption: that they have cast real teen cancer survivors to play the support group for the cancer support group that Woodley’s character attends in the film.
While Woodley and Elgort have been cast it has also been announced that Laura Dern (Enlightenment) has been cast as Hazel’s mother, and Willem Dafoe (Spiderman) as Peter Van Houten; the author of Hazel’s favorite book.
There is no official release date yet, but IMDB is reporting that it should be released some time in 2014.
