John Green should be one proud author, considering how fans are reacting.
With the big screen adaptation of The Fault in Our Stars coming June 6th, author of the novel John Green has finally opened up about how he felt to seeing the trailer.
Starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, the film tells the story of 2 teenagers who meet in a cancer recovery group and wind up falling in love. Fans of the novel though, know that a description doesn't even begin to cover what everyone will feel.
The trailer just debuted this week, but John Green admits that he saw it a month ago, and he seems pretty excited about the jump to the big screen. He spoke to Entertainment Weekly
“I couldn’t let myself feel anything other than anxiety until the last frame of the trailer where [Shailene] says ‘okay.’ Then I was like, yeaaaaah! I really loved it. It’s everything I wanted the trailer to be.”
He was also quick to address how to get everyone to the theater to see the movie, considering it's content:
It’s difficult to say to people, ‘go see this movie that’s about sick kids—you’re going to have a really good time,’”
“But you are. I think the answer is to make something that, even when it’s sad, is not depressing. The great thing about the trailer is that you emerge from watching it feeling invigorated and encouraged. And hopefully excited.”
The trailer for the film has seen fans of the book become very excited, and the feedback has been extremely positive. You can see the trailer for the film below, and feel all of the feelings:
Is it just me, or did everyone else have goosebumps through the entire trailer? And maybe some tears.
Okay, yes tears as well.
"The Fault in Our Stars" opens June 6th 2014.
