Lady Gaga’s Artpop album was generally well-received and was absolutely adored by Gaga’s beloved Little Monsters. John Mayer has been added to the adoration spectrum for the album.
Via Twitter, Mayer released a slew of tweets that spoke of the immense amount of respect and admiration he has for Artpop and Gaga. Mayer’s tweets resonated among the hearts of all Gaga fans (myself included). He gave her the respect she deserves and applauded Gaga for standing by Artpop despite some of the bizarre “criticism” she took for it. About an hour after Mayer’s tweets, Gaga responded on Twitter by saying “Just got out of a great rehearsal! That was really cool @JohnMayer So thoughtful. The respect is mutual.”
As a Gaga fan, it was immensely refreshing to see Mayer take the words right out of my mouth. Lady Gaga is an extraordinary singer who released, in my opinion, the best album of 2013 and 2014…yes Artpop is just THAT amazing and is definitely worth checking out (hell, I recommend that you buy the album asap)

I know this is going to sound like I’m trying to stir up media, but I have huge respect for Lady Gaga and I wanna tell you why.

She released a record that didn’t get the love she was probably hoping for, which happens to REAL artists. And she’s stood by it.

There is no desperate attempt to be as successful as before by any means necessary, no Artpop 2.0 with cynically produced hits.

I respect artists who release music they believe in and with a slow steady pulse while doing it, live or die.

So yah. fin. Carry on Gaga. I can dig it. Everyone else should, too.
