John Wick Chapter 2 left the fate of everyone’s favorite dog-avenging assassin uncertain—with a huge bounty on his head and the entire criminal underworld after him, it looked like there was nothing for him to do but keep running.
Well, now we get an early look at what’s going on in John Wick Chapter 3, and while the details are still pretty scarce—and by that I mean they don’t tell us much more than we already know—it definitely opens the door for some speculation.
The official synopsis was released last week after having been released at CinemaCon, and reads as follows:
"John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he's being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental's manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he's 'Excommunicado,' membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City."
Like I said, pretty much exactly what we expected. Still, the idea of watching Keanu Reeves fight his way out of New York City sounds like a hell of a lot of fun, especially given the wide variety of characters we’ve seen in the previous movies, including a sumo wrestler and a wonderfully lethal violin player. With such colorful characters coming after Wick, the third film is pretty much guaranteed to be an action-packed good time.
A new poster was also unveiled. Take a look below and let us know in the comments if you’re excited for the next instalment of the John Wick series!
