Josh Radnor has been gracing our television screens as Ted Mosby on the hit CBS show How I Met Your Mother for 8 seasons and has one more to go. While fans are eagerly waiting to FINALLY meet Ted’s wife aka The Mother (Cristin Milioti) after all these years, Radnor told Collider that although the show is still as popular as ever, “there’s a sense that it’s totally time to end.”
Over the seasons we’ve seen one of our favorite group of friends go through different relationships and crises, as well as high fives and slaps. It’s been a great experience for the cast and crew, but it seems to be sinking in for them all.
“I think there’s something you can’t quite escape about the fact that it’s the last season. Even though everyone loves the experience and recognizes how transformative it’s been and what a gift it’s been, you don’t want to do it forever. It’s just a long time to stay with one character. We’re as popular as we’ve ever been, so we’re not one of those shows that dwindled in quality or overstayed its welcome,” Radnor stated. And like your last year in high school, they’re going through their last first days.
According to Radnor, they’ve already filmed five episodes and it won’t disappoint claiming that “they’re as good and as strong” as any episodes they have done in the past seasons. Although he gets to know what happens before all of us fans, Radnor still isn’t sure how the season will end. It’s not like he would’ve told us anyways, but a fan can dream.
The final season of How I Met Your Mother begins on September 23rd. It will focus on the weekend leading up to Barney and Robin’s wedding and we’ll finally get to meet the woman Narrator Ted has been talking about all these years. Finally.
And there’s just something satisfying about the fact that we’ll meet her before present Ted does. Don’t you agree?
