In an interview with Collider last Thursday night, Joss Whedon made some interesting comments on subjects such as his tendency to put strong female characters in his films and even a few surprising comments on the upcoming film Guardians of the Galaxy.
The interview began with a typical question, but soon the interviewer took the conversation to the feud Whedon had had with the filmmakers of Sleepwalk With Me.
Whedon made some rather… “aggressive” comments. He even suggested that the filmmakers better not run into him on the streets. His dangerous threat sounded very intimidating indeed!
He was also questioned about the fact that he always puts strong female characters in his films. On this topic, he revealed that another such character will feature in an upcoming Marvel film. He suggested that there are some great female characters already out there which just beg to be picked up for the big screen.
Most surprising of all was when he revealed that when Kevin Feige had suggested the idea of making a Guardians of the Galaxy film, Whedon himself had initially had some doubts about whether that would be a good idea. It wasn’t until James Gunn was brought onto the team that he changed his mind. He started believing that the film could indeed become very successful.
He also stated that he doesn’t understand why any man would struggle with writing a female character. In the end, every human being shares the same core characteristics that make us human beings.
Although these are the highlights, many more things were mentioned, so if you’re a fan of Marvel movies, you might want to have a look at the video below!
Oh, and one more surprising spoiler for the The Avengers sequel: It will involve superheroes!
