Daleks, Cybermen and er, Dinosaurs? Oh My. The first full length trailer for the popular BBC TV series Doctor Who has finally been released, with actual footage from the upcoming season.
Up to this point, show runner Steven Moffat has been pretty secretive about the upcoming season, but now Whovians (myself included) finally have something to hold us over until the show returns this fall.
The trailer and upcoming season, which will debut Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor and returning fellow companion Clara Oswald, “The Impossible Girl” (Jenna Coleman), show that it isn’t going to be an easy start when the show returns.
The action-packed trailer shows us that The Doctor has a lot on his plate when he returns, as one of the things he says is, “I’ve made a lot of mistakes. It’s about time I did something about that.”
Of course, you can’t start a new Doctor Who trailer without having the famous echos of a Dalek talking.
The trailer takes us into darkness and shows us clips from new Aliens, the new interior of the TARDIS, Clara questioning herself if she really knows The Doctor, battles, destruction and many more. And, of course, familiar faces are seen, as two-thirds of the Paternoster Gang, Madame Vastra, makes an appearance in the trailer. We’ll count what looks to be the top Strax head as one.
The eighth season of Doctor Who returns on BBC on August 23, 2014.
So are you counting down the days until it airs?
It’s sad to have a season without Matt Smith as the Doctor, but the trailer makes us excited for a new season. Peter and Jenna are sure not to disappoint with the new season.
