Kate O'Mara, better known to Whovians as The Rani, is the latest star to weigh in on the choice of Peter Capaldi to play the newest regeneration of the iconic Time Lord. O'Mara, who played the evil Time Lord opposite both Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy's incarnations of the Doctor, has said that she feels that Capaldi  is "sort of quirky, he's off the wall, he's different. I think people will relate to that and want to see what happens." Whilst speaking to Digital Spy about her upcoming event "An Evening with Kate O'Mara" she also said that 12th Doctor has the potential to show recent viewers a glimpse of old Who: "I think he's ideal casting - sort of in the Jon Pertwee mold. It'd be just so lovely if I could get back into that [show] and do some scenes with him - it really would be fantastic." O'Mara, 74, has made no secret of her desire to return the show, which will return for its 50th anniversary episode on 23 November (49 days!). It would not be beyond the realms of possibility that we could see the return of The Rani, considering since 2008 - when the show returned - we have seen the return of Sarah-Jane Smith and K9, The Master, and  the return of Gallifrey during David Tennant's final episodes. Only time and Steven Moffat will tell whether Kate will get her wish. Doctor Who returns to our screens on 23rd November with a worldwide simulcast, and then Whovians must get ready for Matt Smith's final episode which will be during the Christmas special.
