Love is in the air or at least in John Mayer’s new song “Who You Love” featuring Katy Perry, his on-off again girlfriend.
The duet, which has emerged online earlier this week, is set to appear on Mayer’s upcoming album Paradise Valley.
It is rumored that the lyrics reference the power couples faulty relationship status in the public eye.
During a portion of the song, Mayer sings: “I tried to run before but I’m not running anymore. If it’s who you love, then it’s who you love.”
Perry’s contribution to the track includes some heartfelt vibes that are meaningful and uplifting. “Some have said his heart’s too hard to hold, and it takes a little time, but you should see him when he shines, ‘cause you never want to let that feeling go.”
Perry is also heard laughing during a portion of the song, which the singer described as a “love giggle” on SiriusXM’s Morning Mash Up.
“It’s like the ones that Mariah Carey had in the 1990’s,” joked the “Roar” singer. “I think I was going for that. I think I was just so happy. I love that song.”
Perry went on to add that her giggle was “humanising,” saying: “You’re catching the real moment there.”
Mayer’s Paradise Valley is due out later this month.
