Coldplay made quite an impact this year with their latest studio album, Ghost Stories. “A Sky Full Of Stars” was one of the most successful singles to be lifted from it and as it seems, the bandmates were inspired by Katy Perry for it!
“A Sky Full Of Stars” is a collaboration between Coldplay and Avicii which went on to become a worldwide smash. According to the group’s frontman, Chris Martin, the inspiration behind it was none other than Katy Perry. In his own words:
“I’ll tell you the truth — I was listening to a lot of Katy Perry. A lot of her songs have the same chord sequence the whole time. Your body feels comfortable with them and then the melody is changing on top so there’s a groove you really get into.”
Apparently, Chris Martin went on to talk about how he managed to make cheerful tunes for Ghost Stories, despite the heartbreaking content of their lyrics. According to him, it’s all about keeping the positive side of a heartbreak and try to make things better.
However, there’s every other phrase that came out of his mouth was overshadowed by that earlier one. Now who could possibly guess it would be the “Roar” hitmaker that brought in the main idea for a Coldplay song?!
