Singers Katy Perry and John Mayer made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres show to talk about the music video for their latest song “Who You Love.” Perry couldn’t help but comment on how the lovers’ video was far from Kanye West’s “Bound 2.”

Ellen DeGeneres jokingly asked Perry and Mayer if their video was “a response to Kim and Kanye’s “Bound 2.”

Perry responded enthusiastically.

“Yes. I thought our response was a little bit more authentic because my hair was blowing in the right direction, though,” Perry joked as the crowd laughed along with Mayer and DeGeneres.

After Perry’s jab at Kimye, Mayer bashfully added: “This is why I don’t need to talk at home. This is why voice messages are just fine. I get these chestnuts.”

Over the weeks, West’s “Bound 2” has come under a lot of criticism, and West explained himself in an interview with Power 105 saying: “I wanted it to look as phony as possible. I wanted the clouds to go in one direction, the mountains to go in another, the horses to go over there, I wanted to show that this is the ‘Hunger Games,’ this is the type of imagery that’s being presented to all of us, the only difference is there’s a black dude in the middle of it.”

Perry and Mayer’s “Who You Love” debuted on Good Morning America on December 17, nearly a month after “Bound 2” was released.
