This morning (August 12th) Katy Perry announced on Live With Ryan Seacrest that she will be performing “Roar” for the first time live at the MTV Video Music Awards on August 25th.

She will take to the spotlight at the award show which will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Perry joins Lady Gaga on the agenda, who will also give her first lead performance of her new song “Applause”. Music artists Kayne West, Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are also slated to perform at the VMA’s.

Daft Punk has confirmed to be on the award ceremony following them canceling an appearance on The Colbert Report

Katy is a four-time VMA prizewinner and received the ‘Video of the Year’ trophy for her famous “Firework” music video back in 2011. Perry has already performed at the ceremony twice and made her debut in 2008 to sing the song that started it all for her “I Kissed a Girl”.

In other words talking about her new song “Roar”, Katy told UK radio station BBC Radio 1 that this single was influenced by her time in healing since the release of Teenage Dream.
