In 2008 we got One of the Boys. Then in 2010 we got the record-breaking Teenage Dream. Now Katy Perry’s Katy Kats, are eagerly awaiting her third album. No exact details of the title and release date have been given, as Perry is still working on the album.
Songwriter Bonnie McKee, who is working with Perry on her latest album, has revealed a glimpse of what sound the superstar’s third album will have. Speaking to MTV, she revealed that the follow up to Katy’s
very
successful second album, will be “taking a new approach”.
McKee said: “it’s definitely a little more mature than the ‘California Gurls’ of yesterday”.
The duo have co-written a number of Perry’s Number 1 songs: ‘Teenage Dream’, ‘Part of Me’, ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)’ and ‘California Gurls’. So understandably there is both great potential and expectations on their shoulders. Talking about their friendship, McKee said “Katy and I are really similar. That’s kind of how we became friends. We just are on the same level…we’re just soul mates in that way, I guess.”
The pair have already written four songs that are set to make the new album.
McKee said: “We were just in Santa Barbara (Katy’s hometown) and we wrote three or four songs…so I have four songs with her coming out.”
