British band Keane has revealed details on their upcoming greatest hits album.
The Best of Keane will feature 18 songs from their previous five albums-which sold over 11 million copies collectively-and will also include new tracks “Higher Than the Sun” and “Won’t Be Broken”.
The band is going all out to celebrate the release with a deluxe edition which will include the band’s many B-sides. There will also be a super-deluxe edition that will combine both CD’s and a live DVD featuring the band performing acoustic songs, which the fans will choose on the band’s website.
The band’s lead vocalist Tom Chaplin said, “It’s over a decade ago that we were busy making our first record Hopes & Fears. Having got together in the mid ‘90’s, things took a while to get going for us as a band, but once they did, it became an incredible ride! We’ve had five consecutive number one albums, toured the world countless times and experienced some very heady days.”
The singer added, “We wanted to put something out there to mark this milestone, to say thank you to all our fans and to try and send you all on a journey through the songs which we’re most proud of.”
Chaplin told RollingStone.com, “When I was a kid, I used to wander around sort of interviewing myself as like we’d done a whole collection of great albums. I suppose as I got a bit older, like most teenagers and when you’re in your early twenties, you start to get a bit more of a reality check. Those dreams, for most people, they fade away, and life gets in the way. But for us, although we had a kind of a stuttering start, we’ve been very lucky, and we got to do the things we felt very passionate about as kids. So I suppose in a roundabout way I’m very surprised and weirded out by the whole thing. But also I think there’s a part of me that was always striving towards this, so it’s been a kind of extraordinary life that’s been handed to me.”
The Best of Keane will debut on November 11.
