Movie star Keanu Reeves is making his way to the small screen with upcoming action series Rain. The TV show is based on the best-selling book series by Barry Eisler. Reeves is set to star as well as serve as executive producer alongside Chad Stahelski and David Leitch. This marks his first major acting and producing gig on television.

“As a huge fan of Barry’s work, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to bring his iconic character and incredible world to life,” Reeves said. “I’m looking forward to partnering with Slingshot on my first series, and reteaming with Chad and David.”

The series will be distributed by Slingshot Global media. SG media is a Los Angeles-based independent production company formed by former Freemantlemedia CEO David Ellender. Rain will be the production company’s first TV series.

Rain will follow the story of title character John Rain, a half Japanese, half American assassin played by Reeves, who specializes in making his assassinations look like death by natural causes.
