The cast of Once Upon a Time in Wonderland just got larger, as it was revealed that Keith David is taking on the role of the infamous Cheshire cat.
TVLine reports that the Cheshire cat will appear in the first episode of the brand new series, which is the spin-off to the highly successful series Once Upon a Time. Other actors announced to voice roles in the series are John Lithgow and The Who’s Roger Daltrey who will voice the White Rabbit and the hookah-smoking Caterpillar, respectively.
David is best known for his roles in Cloud Atlas, Death at a Funeral and Coraline. He is a two-time Emmy winner who also has narrated The Bible, the “Pillows and Blankets” episode of Community, as well as roles in Gargoyles and Spawn.
The show also stars Sophia Lowe, who will play Alice; Michael Socha (Being Human) will star as the Knave of Hearts, Peter Gadiot as Cyrus and Emma Rigby who will play The Red Queen.
IMDB summarizes the new series:
“Once Upon a Time in Wonderland tells the story of Alice in Victorian England, who tells stories of a strange new land that exists on the other side of a rabbit hole. Surely this troubled girl must be insane and her doctors aim to cure her with a treatment that will make her forget everything. Although Alice seems ready to forget, the sardonic Knave of Hearts and the irrepressible White Rabbit arrive to save her from a doomed fate. Together, the trio will take a tumble down the rabbit hole to this Wonderland where nothing is impossible.”
Wonderland premieres Thursday, Oct. 10 at 8/7c.
