14 years ago today marks the first ever American Idol win. The winner was one Ms. Kelly Clarkson. Now, Kelly Clarkson has paid tribute to the competition that started it all for her.
Clarkson took to Twitter with a sweet message:

Back in September of 2002, Clarkson (then 20 years of age) was crowned the first ever Idol champ (beating out runner-up Justin Guarini) and sung her single “A Moment Like This” to judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Randy Jackson.
Ever since that moment, the 34 year old has taken the music scene by storm. She has gone on to win three Grammy Awards and has accumulated over 100 billboard No. 1 hits, including, “Breakaway”, “My Life Would Suck Without You”, “Mr. Know It All”, “A Moment Like This”, “Since U Been Gone”, “Behind These Hazel Eyes”, “Piece By Piece”, “Miss Independent”, “Because Of You”, and “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)”.
Kelly Clarkson has also toured the world numerous times, released a critically acclaimed Christmas Album, and has a wonderful family to boot: daughter River-Rose (2 years old) and son Remington (4 months old) with her husband, talent manager, Brandon Blackstock.
Earlier this summer, Kelly announced that she has signed a long-term record deal with Atlantic Records. Before signing with Atlantic, she had been with RCA records for the past 15 years. In celebration of the new deal, Clarkson has been making music covers of some of her favorite songs in various Facebook live videos. Some of the songs include Rihanna’s “Love on the Brain” and Otis Redding’s “These Arms Of Mine.”
