Though Kem has been on the R&B scene since 2001 and has had his albums consistently go gold since his career’s initial conception, it seems like now we can say that lightning really can strike four times in a row for the seasoned Motown artist.
His latest, “It’s You,” first reached a respectable placement as #49 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop song charts on its debut. However, his brand-new album, Promise, is doing even better. It placed #1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop charts with 52,000 sold in first-week sales, making a leap in terms of placement from his last album, Intimacy‘s, #2 spot on the charts despite bigger sales numbers.
Considering recent advertising streaks for Promise across the syndicated television spectrum, can we expect Kem’s latest to hit even bigger heights than it looks like he’ll maintain with his latest studio effort? Only time will tell, though for now, his chances of at least keeping on top of the charts for the remainder of the month are looking pretty neat.
