Kenny G, a Grammy-winning musician and top-selling instrumentalist of all time, tells the story behind his track “Rendezvous” on his latest album “New Standards.”
“Brazilian Nights,” and the record highlights his distinct crossover style of classical orchestral luxury and traditional pop influence from artists like Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald.
Kenny said “Rendezvous” is the first track he recorded for the record and it helped set the tone for the entire album. The song infuses the traditional upbeat jazz style of the ’50s and ’60s with Kenny’s signature sound.
The song’s overall tone is reflected in its title when the melody captures casual yet buoyant and cheerful energy.
“The orchestra comes in, they’re moving along with me, we’re taking this walk together,” Kenny G shares about the song, “It almost sounds like you’re taking a walk to go meet somebody, and that’s why I called it ‘Rendezvous’.”
Kenny G is currently touring the country with a variety of shows in 2022. During those fans can hear New Standards live with his classics.
Rendezvous and the full New Standards album are available on all streaming platforms with the upcoming release of New Standards exclusive vinyl on February 11, now available for pre-order.
