Popstar Kesha has had a rough time lately. With her court cases against Dr. Luke being dismissed left and right, it seems that her whole world may be crashing down. But one cannot measure a person’s strength by their successes. It is when they are down and are still able to pick themselves up that one can truly say a person is strong.
And Kesha is a strong woman; she won’t let anything, even an insurmountable court case, get in the way of her passion for music.
Of course, it helps when an angelic Russian-German superstar DJ decides to lend his hand to give you the strength to rise again. Because, for the first time since the case started, Kesha is finally releasing a new single: “True Colors” with Zedd today (April 29)!
ZEDD & KESHA – TRUE COLORS OFFICIALLY OUT: 4/29 Music can be freedom.

The single came about when Zedd reached out to Kesha after a judge denied her injunction to record outside of Sony records .
“very very sorry to hear about the whole situation. I’ll be happy to produce a song for you if you want my help.” he tweeted out to her.
Kesha’s team went on to contact the DJ to confirm if the offer was real (because it’s Twitter — how can you really know?), and Zedd apparently confirmed. Two weeks later, Zedd and Kesha surprised audiences with a performance together during Zedd’s Coachella set. Then, Zedd posted a photo to Instagram of them working together on the studio.
Kesha followed it up with her own post, showing a picture of herself recording in the studio. She praised Zedd, calling him a “beautiful person with a heart of gold”.

Zedd then clarified that no rules were broken and that he and Kesha got permission to record the new single:
Just to clarify:
We didn’t use any loop holes. Kemosabe / RCA gave us permission to release this song!
