Kiol Teases Upcoming Album ‘Techno Drug Store’ With New Track “Polly”

“Polly” is a song about the eclipse of two souls, crazy sex and passion. It’s about the beginning of a love affair in all its little details, but it’s also about love and distance…”

Born in Turin but having spent much of his life in Mallow, Ireland, Kiol was at summer school in the country when he first discovered his love for music – drumming in particular – and was encouraged by those around him to pursue it. Inspired by the likes of Paolo Nutini, Moby and Angus Stone, just a few years later, in January of 2017, he went on to drop his first EP ‘I Come As I Am’ and begin to build a fanbase across Europe by performing more than 150 shows.

In the years that have passed since, Kiol has continued to work tirelessly in the name of honing his craft, perfecting his song-writing capabilities and blending pop, alternative, hip-hop and soul to create songs that continue to capture the attention of both fans and critics. He’s shared stages with Editors, Placebo and Patty Smith to name but three, and while he might still be considered an upcoming artist by some, he’s certainly making waves. His audience and fan-base look set to only grow further with the release of his new single “Polly,” which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere.

The new single is the second to be taken from his debut album ‘Techno Drug Store’, originally due out in July but now not being released until October as the world, and its many industries, continue to feel the effects and the fallout of Covid-19.

Asked about the story behind the track, he says: “Polly” is a song about the eclipse of two souls, crazy sex and passion. It’s about the beginning of a love affair in all its little details, but it’s also about love and distance. When you live far away from your lover, it’s a constant falling in love and moving away, dreaming about the day you will meet again.  And God, if the love is true, it’s worth all the pain.”
