British artist Sara Pope is suing reality starlet Kylie Jenner for allegedly copying her Temptation Neon art piece and using it as a promotional material for her Life of Kylie show on E.
Temptation Neon was made by Pope on 2015 and shows the image of a half biting lip surrounded by a neon halo. A similar image was used by Jenner in social media and it also appeared in the promo video of Life of Kylie. Pope is suing both NBC Universal which owns E! Entertainment and Kylie Jenner herself for an undisclosed amount.
Kylie Jenner has utilized lips as a promotional material for her various ventures, this is in reference to her having luscious lips as her fans would point out. In fact, the premier product of her Kylie Cosmetics brand is her Kylie’s Lip Kits which teenage girls bought out in droves hoping that they would get lips as beautiful as their idol.
According to TMZ, an anonymous source said that the lip design that was used to promote the reality show was made by a third party and Jenner had nothing to do with the process of its creation.
This of course is not the first time Jenner had been sued by artists for using their work. Just weeks before, photographer Michael Miller filed legal action against Kylie and her sister Kendall for allegedly utilizing his photographs of the late Tupac Shakur for their T-shirt line. Earlier in the year, artist Vlada Haggerty claimed that the art work used for Kylie’s cosmetic lines which used images of dripping lips was copied from her makeup art style. Haggerty threatened legal action, but no lawsuit was filed and it was settled out of court.
If Kylie Jenner truly had little to do with the making of the allegedly copied “lip image”, maybe she should pay more attention to the ins and outs of her various ventures and not just pawn it out to managers. After all it is done in her name and she is the one being sued….again.
