It’s official, the NBA has spoken out and justice has been served. If you don’t believe in karma, this news may just make you a believer! Clippers owner Donald Sterlington has been banned from basketball for life, while also receiving a $2.5 million fine. The news was announced by Adam Silver, Commissioner for the NBA. A three-day investigation was conducted after a recording including several racist remarks and statements was brought to light. The recording reveals that he told his mistress he “doesn’t want her bringing black people to games.” The release of the tapes to the public caused MAJOR outrage, eventually trending worldwide, even causing sponsors Red Bull and Addidas to end their relationship with the Clippers. With the news of Sterling’s ban, Twitter is already buzzing with their overjoyed opinions on the results. Even the Queen of TV, Oprah Winfrey shared her opinions, " It feels like a plantation mentality in the 21st century, in 2014. It just doesn't fit." For the people who are still somehow stuck in the past and think that race should have any impact on our lives need a serious reality check. It’s time to leave racism where it belongs: NOWHERE.
