Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney is back with a new documentary titled The Armstrong Lie.

The documentary will tell the story of the infamous Lance Armstrong doping scandal. It will also provide insight from Armstrong’s teammates, doctors and other experts involved with the case.

If you missed out, in January of 2013 after denying claims, Lance Armstrong gave a partial confession in an interview with Oprah that aired on her television station OWN.

As reported by Deadline.com, the documentary itself will focus on his brief return to win the Tour de France and the scandal that surrounded his battle to win. Frank Marshall and Matt Tolmach (writers of The Armstrong Lie along with Alex Gibney) stated, “We set out to make a movie about a comeback. Along the way, we ended up chronicling the collapse of one of the greatest myths and legends of our time.”

Gibney’s list of works include Taxi to the Dark Side and Casino Jack. His most recent documentary is We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks; the trailer can be viewed here.

Sony Pictures has given The Armstrong Lie the go-ahead with no set release date.
