Lance Bass and fiancé Michael Turchin are at the forefront of the battle for marriage equality in Mississippi. Both the pop singer and his husband-to-be are from The Magnolia State, so this is an issue that plays especially close to their hearts.
In a recent video, Lance Bass recants his childhood growing up in Mississippi and how he always admired the marriage his parents had, and how he wanted that for himself.
Lance and Michael are keen on spreading the beautiful message of freedom to marry, freedom to love. They also say that we need to talk about things, that communication will be key as younger generations approach their elders to explain why being gay no longer has the stigma attached to it like when they growing up.
“We’re here; our feet are planted here in Mississippi, and we can tell you by experience that there’s tons of support down here,” Lance says in the video courtesy of Southerners For The Freedom To Marry.
The couple has already seen improvements in the ideologies of people from the South, and they’ll continue to fight for marriage equality for all.
